Our Unique Approach

Our Center for Functional Health Roadmap is a unique approach to help motivated adults battling gut issues, heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune dysfunction regain control over their health so they can enjoy a well-balanced, active life looking and feeling their best… even if previous approaches have failed.

We partner with each client to achieve these steps, starting with the Foundation Phase:

During the intake, we’ll review your past medical history and any previous lab tests, so we can assess symptoms or anything your doctor might have missed.

Next, we’ll determine the need for additional lab tests to help pinpoint the real reasons for your symptoms and to get a better understanding of your immune system, gut issues, and cardio-metabolic dysfunction.

Nutrient deficiencies are another frequent issue we address – brought on by impaired gut health or prescription drugs that deplete the body of vital nutrients. Because when your body is running on an empty tank so to speak, it’s no wonder you feel sluggish.

The next three steps focus on rebooting and optimizing your gut health, sleep & stress management as well as energy & metabolism.

We start by removing pathogens that are often at the root of gut dysbiosis, repairing the gut lining to reestablish intestinal integrity, replenishing the microbiome to properly digest food, and improving nutrient absorption as well as neurotransmitter production important for a balanced mood.

After evaluating the state of your nervous system, we’ll likely introduce support for restful sleep as well as mindfulness and meditation techniques so you can shift from “flight or flight” to “rest and digest” mode – while dialing down inflammatory signals and enhancing mood and focus.

The last step in the Reboot phase is creating immune resilience dedicated to cellular energy & metabolism – helping you reduce your body’s toxic burden, avoid toxins in the first place, and replenish your cellular machinery for an energized life.

Once we make headway with rebooting these areas of your health, we’ll turn our attention to optimizing mindful movement, mindset, and emotional balance as well as immune resilience.

In the mindful movement step, we encourage restorative forms of movement that support blood sugar balance and address possible insulin resistance that can keep you from losing weight and feeling energized.

Next, we’ll seek to reestablish the right mindset and emotional balance to keep healing, so you can continue to reap the benefits for years to come.

The final step of our roadmap focuses on boosting immune function and resilience to ensure your body is well-equipped to handle whatever is coming your way.

How Our Approach Is Different

At The Center for Functional Health, our care team works together to ensure the fastest return back to health and the most complete system of care. As such, our integrative medicine approach under the guidance of Dr. Michael Kaye focuses on:

Using a variety of treatment modalities, including using food as medicine in tandem with state-of-the-art testing.

Focusing holistically on all the areas that impact your health… including movement, emotions, and mindset.

Teaching patients how to take an active role in health creation, so that they can heal and/or keep chronic illness at bay.

Focusing on optimal health, based on your unique biological needs, not just the absence of symptoms or disease.

Acknowledging the multi-factorial nature of complex causes of illness, which requires an experienced clinician who can pinpoint the reasons you have the illness and craft the correct treatment plan.

Using natural, non-toxic therapies, as much as possible, harnessing the body’s amazing ability to heal itself.

Hear From Our Clients

I started working with Dr. Kaye after years of struggling with GI issues and doctor after doctor not being able to help diagnose what the root issue was. Within a few weeks of working with Dr. Kaye, I felt such a positive difference not only in my symptoms, but in my overall quality of life. He took the time to listen to all my concerns and answer all my questions. He came up with a protocol that worked for me and was easy to understand and follow. I highly recommend working with Dr. Kaye for anyone with similar issues.

Dr Kaye is the real deal!! I went to him struggling with my weight and more importantly terrible GERD. In two months, my GERD is completely gone, my breathing is so much better (I just thought I had asthma and it was the way it was going to be) and I lost 10 pounds and 5 inches around my middle all by eating whole food! Dr Kaye and his wife Francis make an awesome team and with easy to follow meal planning, recipies and shopping lists it all came together quite easily. I am looking forward to what the rest of the year looks and feels like. Dr Kaye is also very personable and easy to talk to which makes sharing with him so he can help you super easy! He is a wealth of information! You will never want to go to a 5 min in/out doctor again!!
