According to National Institute of Health, autoimmune illnesses are on the rise. All the more reason to understand what causes or accelerates them so we can turn the tide. Auto autoimmune diseases are often a mystery. How does one develop autoimmunity? Can I manage it? will go away?

When it comes to auto immune disease there’s very little discussion from the conventional medical world around the role of gut health, nutrition and supplementation.

Some of the common autoimmune diseases are:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
  • Celiac and graves disease
  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus

So when we have gut conditions like intestinal hyper permeability, aka leaky gut, it  can cause your immune system to go on high alert.

Food sensitivities can also play a role adding tight inflammation or people may notice that new food sensitivities as your immune system weakens.

Intestinal hyper permeability, aka leaky gut syndrome, is when bacteria and undigested protein passes through the gaps in your intestinal wall and leaks into the bloodstream.

Your body then interprets this bacteria and protein as an invasion of foreign invader and begins to attack it as such. This can lead to endotoxemia, endotoxemia is the change in the permeability of the intestinal flora which allows LPs which is known as lippo polysaccharides to leak into the bloodstream, and this contributes to the inflammation process.

Healing and supporting the gut through specific based nutritional protocols, supplementation based upon clinical findings and lifestyle changes can decrease the symptoms of leaky gut and support the immune system.

Healing the gut requires more of a protocol versus a promise of a quick fix with drugs or the latest and greatest supplement because you need to balance bacteria and heal the gut lining and this takes time and patience.
