Would you like to have a resilient immune system?

Most people are told that they need to boost their immune system but they have no idea where to start or what that even means. Well, I will tell you where to start. We have to start with the gut.

You see people are told to take supplements or eat certain foods to boost the immune system but if your gut is not healthy then it will be difficult for the immune system to be healthy.

Do you know that 80% of your immune system is created in the gut? Bacteria in your gut plays a role in your immunity. If you have too much or too little bacteria in your gut, your microbiome which consists of a trillion microorganisms is compromised. The microbiome is influenced by lifestyle such as what, when, and how you eat; medications, age, environment, disease and even sleep. So, if your gut is not working great, neither is your immune system.

Gut conditions like SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), H pylori, leaky gut syndrome and gut imbalances that cause digestive issues can compromise the gut, and hence the immune system.

Hoping to get to the cause of your symptoms, you schedule an appointment with a doctor. Maybe you are prescribed medication. Or maybe you are told it’s all in your head. Lastly, they rarely mention nutrition and if they do, you are handed a print out at best. Alas, you leave with a dose of frustration.

So, when it comes to the immune system, it’s more than just taking a supplement, gut education is the key and it starts with a good history and testing.

Do you know the right tests for checking your gut?  Comment yes / no below and let me know whether I should make a video around that.
